Eating disorder self-assessment quizzes are available on the websites for the Center for Eating Disorders and the National Eating Disorders Association. The sites also have information about the various types of eating disorders and how to seek treatment, among other resources.
Anorexia, bulimia and binge eating are the most well-known eating disorders. Others include pica, a condition in which a person eats wood or other non-food material, and rumination disorder, in which individuals regurgitate food and then spit it out or swallow it again. People with eating disorders often have obsessions with food or their physical appearances that negatively affect their daily lives. Eating disorders are serious, potentially life-threatening medical issues.
