When your breathing tests in the green zone, you should experience no asthma symptoms or breathing problems, according to National Jewish Health. However, you should still take your prescribed asthma medications and use your inhaler as directed.
In the yellow zone of the peak flow zone chart, you may feel tired, sneeze and cough, explains National Jewish Health. You may also look pale, have a runny nose or an itchy throat. You should use your rescue medicine and take another peak flow reading in approximately 30 minutes. If your peak flow reading is not in the green zone after the second reading, or if it drops into the yellow zone within the next four hours, you should contact your doctor.
