Surgeons can perform plastic surgery in an office, rather than a hospital, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Office-based operations have lower costs, are more time efficient and are more convenient for both the patient and surgeon when compared to plastic surgery performed in a hospital.
While some consider hospital-based surgery the standard, it may not be convenient to travel to a hospital, explains the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Office-based plastic surgery operations with general anesthesia retain the appropriate safety standards. In addition, the smaller office setting enables easier scheduling, greater control over cases and a more flexible lifestyle for plastic surgeons.
