A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association of Facial Plastic Surgery set out to find a universally-accepted quantitative metric to define the perfect nose for females by determining the ideal projection and nasal tip rotation. Showing 15 modified portraits of each studied face to both in-person and online focus group participants, the study determined that the perfect female nose has a nasal tip rotation of 106 degrees. Though the study did not determine the ideal projection, the nasal tip rotation of 106 degrees is the ideal in faces considered to be above-average attractiveness and average attractiveness, according to the JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery.
