Organs such as the appendix, right ovary and gall bladder can cause discomfort on the right side of the body, states Med-Health. The liver, right kidney and pancreas are other organs on the right side of the body that are prone to pain.
The appendix is a tube of tissue that is an extension of the large intestine and is 3.5 inches long. Appendicitis is the inflammation of the appendix when it is blocked by foreign objects, stool, infection or cancer. Some symptoms of appendicitis are cramps, constipation and pain in the right abdomen, according to WebMD. Persistent pain in the right ovary can be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy. In such a case, the fertilized egg lodges itself inside the fallopian tubes instead of implanting itself on the uterus wall. This pain is a serious symptom for a pregnant woman and termination of the pregnancy is the only treatment, states WebMD. Pain felt in the right ovary can also be caused by ovarian cysts. These cysts may cause infertility and can lead to ovarian cancer, states Med-Health.
The gallbladder is a sac-like organ under the liver and it stores bile. Gallstones are salt and cholesterol deposits on the gall bladder that cause fever, right abdominal pain and nausea. They can be small or large and develop when there is excess cholesterol in the bile, high amounts of bilirubin produced by the liver or when the gallbladder does not release the excess bile into the intestine, according to Healthline.
