In Kimberly Snyder's one-day cleanse diet, the participant drinks water with lemon juice, and tea made from ginger, lemon and cayenne, over the course of one day. This diet also includes a green, vegetable-based smoothie for breakfast, and leafy green vegetables for lunch and dinner. During this one-day cleanse, the dieter is forbidden from eating meat, sugars or oil.
Another one-day colon cleanse is the salt water flush, explains Real Foods Witch. To perform this cleanse, combine 2 teaspoons of unrefined sea salt with 32 ounces of lukewarm water. Mix well, then drink the entire mixture in one sitting. The salt water tends to cause the bowels to move within a few minutes, but the dieter is advised to wait 30 minutes between drinking the mixture and using the bathroom. This cleanse is suitable for a one-day cleanse, or for up to seven consecutive days.
Excessive use of colon cleansers may lead to dehydration and vitamin deficiencies, notes WebMD. Flushing the colon too frequently may also make it less effective at eliminating waste without help.
