Licensed physicians vote online to nominate and select their medical professional peers in a review survey to develop the list of best doctors, explains New York Magazine. The annual list includes physicians who practice a wide variety of specialties across the United States. The physicians consider their peers' professional credentials, reputations, patient skills and disciplinary histories. Physicians cannot nominate themselves. Castle Connolly uses a research team that physicians lead to vet the group of nominees and investigate their licensing, certifications and disciplinary records.
