Watermelon is a diabetic-friendly food, notes WebMD. WebMD also recommends other fresh fruits for diabetics, including cherries, berries, oranges, peaches, tangerines and plums. Grapes, grapefruit and kiwi are also recommended.
Along with fresh fruit, WebMD recommends fresh vegetables, including snow peas, cabbage, green beans, broccoli and spinach. Other recommended vegetables include small sweet potatoes, asparagus and carrots.
Additional dietary recommendations include lean meats, such as skinless chicken breast, ground turkey and pork tenderloin, as stated by WebMD. Diabetics should choose low-fat salad dressings and low-fat dairy products, including part-skim mozzarella, yogurt or skim milk. Whole-grain pasta and cereals are other recommendations.
