As of March 2015, toric lens implants used in cataract surgery cost between $900 and $1,500 per eye, according to Weston Eye Center. Some cataract surgeons' offices are willing to establish payment plans for these lens implants, which are used to correct astigmatism.
While Medicare pays for the cost of monofocal lens implants required in cataract surgery, it does not pay for toric implants, multifocal lens implants or implants that correct presbyopia or near vision. Medicare pays 80 percent of the allowable fees for the cataract surgeon, the facility and any follow-up care after cataract surgery. Most private health insurance companies also do not cover the cost of toric lens implants, Weston Eye Center points out.
