How Much Should a 47-Year-Old Man Weigh If He Is 5 Feet, 10 Inches in Height?

According to the Body Mass Index (BMI) chart, the healthy weight range for a 5 foot, 10 inch tall adult male is 132 to 167 pounds. Age is not used in the BMI chart to determine a healthy weight.

The BMI Chart, created by Belgian mathematician Adolphe Quetelet between 1830 and 1850, calculates body fat by dividing a person's weight by his height in inches. According to the World Health Organization, the healthy BMI range for all ages and genders is 18.5 to 24.9. The Harvard School of Health suggests limiting sedentary activity, eating nutritious foods and exercising regularly to maintain a healthy BMI.
