  1. Wear tight-fitting clothing

Wear a snug sports bra if you are female, or go topless if you are male for the most accurate measurements.

  2. Stand sideways in front of a mirror

Place your feet together, and hold your ribcage upright. Face a mirror standing sideways.

  3. Wrap a tape measure around the widest part of your chest

Place the tape measure flat against your skin at the widest part of your chest. Make sure that it is evenly parallel to the ground and not pinching or compressing your skin. Wrap the tape measure around your back and back around the front of your chest until it overlaps.

  4. Record the measurement

Record the length of the tape measure at the closest line to the place where it overlaps.

  5. Repeat the measurement

Move around a bit, and then repeat the process. The measurements are likely to be slightly different.

  6. Average the measurements

Add the two measurements together, and then divide that total by two to get the average measurement. That number represents your chest size.
