Throwing up a yellow substance can indicate bile reflux, according to Mayo Clinic. In addition to being yellow, the substance may look green.
Alongside producing yellow vomit, individuals suffering from bile reflux may produce the following symptoms:
- Pain in the upper abdomen that can become severe
- Heartburn and a sour taste in the mouth
- Occasional coughing and hoarseness
- Unintentional weight loss
Anybody who experiences the above symptoms frequently should see a doctor for a diagnosis. In addition to indicating bile reflux, these are signs of acid reflux. Individuals suffering from gastroesophageal reflux, or GERD, who progress onto producing yellow-green vomit may need to receive treatment for bile reflux.
