However, the Houston Chronicle states that the amount of calories burned during a yoga class depends on an individual's weight, the length of the class and the type of yoga practiced. The Houston Chronicle notes that a 155-pound person burns 544 calories in a 90-minute class of Ashtanga yoga. The same person burns only 293 calories doing less intensive Hatha yoga, but 739 calories in a 90-minute hot yoga class and over 900 calories doing the most intensive Vinyasa yoga.
