Those with health conditions such as diabetes, or others who are simply attempting to lose weight may be interested in trying low-carb diets. Others may participate in a low-carb eating plan for preventative measures against metabolic syndrome, diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease, states the Mayo Clinic.
While some adhere to a low-carb diet and swear by it, others consider it dangerous. It has been blamed for causing heart issues and certain types of cancers because of the increased focus on animal fat, states the Mayo Clinic.
