A person can lose weight in the legs by dieting, doing cardiovascular exercises and lifting weights. It's impossible to reduce fat in a specific area, so weight must be lost throughout the body.
Healthy foods include lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and nuts. Cardiovascular exercise or interval training can be done at a moderate intensity for an hour. Interval training is 15 seconds of maximum intensity exercise followed by 45 seconds of moderate intensity exercise, repeated for 10 minutes. Weight lifting exercises that target the legs can be done twice per week to add muscle, which makes the legs look leaner. Leg exercises include leg curls, leg presses and calf raises.
