This three-day military diet is designed to help the body lose weight quickly. However, this diet only allows for between 800 and 1,000 calories per day, which is not a healthy caloric intake for an extended period. The recommended intake per day for those trying to lose weight long term is around 1,500 calories. Only follow this advice if losing ten pounds in three days is an absolute necessity, and take into consideration any relevant health issues you may have, such as diabetes. Remember, most of the weight lost in such a short period will be water, not fat, so do not expect it to say off for long without further maintenance.
- Drink a large amount of water
There is no limit on how much water you can drink. Drink at least ten cups (80 ounces) per day, and aim for more than this amount.
- Eat 850 calories or less per day for three days
Try to combine lean protein in small, 3 ounce, portions with steamed or raw vegetables. You could add in a very small amount of carbohydrate, too. One example would be a cup of tuna with a green salad, a single slice of whole wheat toast and half a banana.
- Drink black coffee or unsweetened green tea with every meal
This will boost your metabolism and enable constant calorie burning. Make sure that creamer, sugar and artificial sweeteners are not included.
- Avoid exercising too much
Because of the low caloric intake, your body will not have much energy during these three days, so it's best not to do much. A light walk is acceptable, but nothing more strenuous. You will be sluggish and low on energy.
