Scrapes heal in three to seven days if minor; however, a deep or severe wound may take up to two weeks, according to WebMD. The scrape may ooze for up to four days, but this is a normal part of the healing process.
Healing of scrapes depends on the width and depth of the wound, reports WebMD. Whether or not a scab develops over the scrape does not affect healing time; however, a well-developed scab protects the wound, allows for new skin growth and promotes healing. The skin repair process may be prolonged if a scab cracks, bleeds or develops an infection beneath it.
