Al-Anon is a private fellowship that works to help relatives and friends of alcoholics, whether or not the alcoholic himself recognizes he has a problem. Al-Anon group meetings allow members to share their experiences and learn how to apply Al-Anon principles to their lives. Al-Anon follows the Twelve Steps and encourages members to focus on themselves, rather than trying to change the alcoholic. Meetings are generally small, consisting of about five to 25 members.
