According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, Lipo-6 Black is a dietary supplement designed to burn fat. This product is produced by Nutrex Research, Incorporated; and, it should be used with caution.
The FDA warns consumers about the presence of DMAA in the supplement. DMAA is commonly referred to as 1,3-dimethylamylamine or methylhexanamine. This substance has warranted recalls of Lipo-6 Black, as recently as April 2013. In April 2012, the FDA distributed warning letters to Nutrex for marketing Lipo-6 Black, with DMAA, and not first submitting evidence of the safety of the product to the FDA. According to the GNC online store, Lipo-6 Black labels with current supplemental facts do not reference the presence of the contentious DMAA.
