There are two versions of the Kiss-O-Meter, each with a different kiss rating scale. On one Kiss-O-Meter, copyrighted in 1940, the kiss ratings range from "frigid" to "dynamite." The other Kiss-O-Meter uses "ice cold" as the lowest rating and "hot stuff" as the highest.
The Kiss-O-Meter works much in the same way as the Love Meter, which was its basis. Both machines appear to test the warmth of the player's hand, with a large, mercury-filled thermometer filling up to the top and then slowly dropping down again until it matches the player's rating. Exhibit Supply Company made both of these machines.
