In order to make almond milk use 4 cups of water, 1.5 cups of almonds and 1 teaspoon of whatever other flavors you would like to add, such as vanilla, honey, mint or cinnamon. First you let your almonds soak in 2 cups of water for 6 to 10 hours. After soaking, blend until smooth while adding the remainder water half a cup at a time (2 to 3 minutes). At this point, almond milk has been made. However, for a smoother consistency without any pulp, as well as better flavor, take your strainer (coffee filter or cheese cloth works) and slowly pour the almond milk through it. Finally, mix in 1 teaspoon of the flavors of choice and the almond milk is done (make sure to refrigerate). In addition to homemade almond milk, if the pulp is separated out, it can be dried out on a baking sheet in the oven on the lowest temperature setting to create almond flour to be used in baking.
