Losing weight is necessary to prevent the triglycerides from getting into the tissues and muscles.
Experts recommended losing a range of 5 to 10 percent of body weight to reduce triglyceride levels, claims WebMD. Dieters also need to lose belly fat, since fat accumulation around the midsection leads to higher levels of unhealthy fats.
Consuming fish that contains omega-3 fats is also a necessity, adds WebMD. Tuna, salmon, sardines and albacore are all types of fish that are healthy sources of omega-3 fats. Taking omega-3 supplements is helpful as well.
