According to Reference.com, Hydroxycut promoted itself as a weight loss nutritional supplement. It was sold at conventional retailers and through television marketing but has been taken off the market. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends consumers not use the product due to liver-related injuries.
Reference.com states that Hydroxycut was created by Marvin Heuer, the chief scientific officer of Iovate Health Sciences. Heuer is also an associate clinical professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Florida. Published eight-week studies showed that Hydroxycut users lost a significant amount of weight compared to those who relied on diet and exercise alone.
