The top five hospitals in Chicago and surrounding suburbs are Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Rush University Medical Center, University of Chicago Medicine, Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and Loyola University Medical Center. These were determined by Chicago Magazine's extensive study concerning Chicago area hospitals.
This study, published in 2013 by Chicago Magazine, states that it used the expertise of professionals who know the metro area’s medical care better than anyone, as well as extensive data, to determine the top hospitals in the area. It also says that this compiled information enabled the magazine to rank the top hospitals in order with the first being the best.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital, located in downtown Chicago, is ranked as the best hospital in the Chicago area based on Chicago Magazine's study by combining strong primary care with outstanding specialty care, a fantastic women's center, cancer center and first-rate physicians. Chicago Magazine also states that Northwestern Memorial Hospital has an academic wing providing access to the latest medical research.
Rush University Medical Center, located in Chicago's west side, and the University of Chicago Medicine, located in Chicago's south side, states Chicago Magazine, rank second and third respectively in its study. Ranked fourth and fifth, according to Chicago Magazine's study of the area's top hospitals, are the Advocate Christ Medical Center and Loyola University Medical Center, both of which are located in Chicago's suburbs.
