HEDIS training refers to the introduction and education of the set of widely used performance measures also known as the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set. This training can consist of on-site training, webinars or live seminars, explains the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
The National Committee for Quality Assurance developed HEDIS, and more than 90 percent of America's health plans use it. The set consists of 81 measures that cover a wide range of important health issues, such as effectiveness of care and access of care, notes the National Committee for Quality Assurance. Training and improving on these measures can result in cost savings for managed care practices, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
