Turmeric is also used sometimes as a treatment for heartburn, gas, diarrhea, jaundice, headaches, colds and issues related to the liver and kidneys. Turmeric is a bright yellow root and is often added to foods such as curries, mustards and cheeses due to its coloring.
Turmeric contains anti-inflammatory properties and, when taken in extract form, is effective in reducing pain caused by osteoarthritis. Turmeric may also help reduce eye inflammation and gum disease. A daily turmeric regimen may reduce kidney inflammation and lower blood pressure.
