Yoga Journal explains that Hatha yoga is effective for self-transformation. It makes the person conscious of his breathing and aids in controlling the fluctuations of the mind. The syllable "ha" means "sun," while "tha" means "moon." Thus, the term refers to the balance of feminine and masculine aspects in each person. It not only develops a balance between flexibility and strength but also makes the person learn how to balance his effort and surrender for each posture.
