Some pick-up lines approved by people they are intended to win over include "I thought happiness started with an h. Why does mine start with a U?" and "Do you know what this shirt is made of? Boyfriend material," according to Huffington Post. Given the corniness of pick-up lines in general, it's recommended to say them in a non-serious manner. As Mila Kunis explained in an interview with GQ magazine, the success of pick-up lines lies entirely in the delivery, and they should be considered a lighthearted icebreaker.
It's also important to gauge what kind of pick-up line is appropriate. Some, like "Did you sit in a pile of sugar? Cause you have a pretty sweet behind," might backfire by causing offense with the physical reference, according to GQ.
Some more pick-up lines that are reported to have worked include: "Kiss me if I'm wrong, but dinosaurs still exist, right?", "I'm going on a long walk, can you hold this?" (while holding out hand) and "You are absolutely, astoundingly gorgeous and that's the least interesting thing about you."
Some pick-up lines may be more elaborate and theatrical. One example is dropping a $20 bill on the floor close to where the target is sitting, and then asking whether they dropped it. Their (hopefully) negative response can then be followed with "In that case, can I buy you a drink with it?"
