A good home remedy for poison ivy uses baking soda, according to HowStuffWorks. Make a paste with baking soda and water, and smooth it over the affected area several times a day. Taking a cool shower or bath also helps relieve any itching.

The Global Healing Center states that applying a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to a poison ivy rash pulls the urushiol toxin out of the skin, and this can be applied to the skin as needed. Another home remedy involves snipping a piece of aloe vera from a plant and using the gel inside the piece to cool the skin and relieve the itch.
