In addition to eating better, there are a number of things a person should change lifestyle-wise following a diagnosis of prediabetes, explains WebMD. For instance, ensuring that a person is getting enough sleep is important as the body may struggle to use insulin if it does not have enough energy.
Another thing to do following a prediabetes diagnosis is to get more exercise in, according to WebMD. It is recommended that those who are prediabetic get a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise each day, a minimum of 5 days a week. Along with getting enough exercise, it is also important for prediabetic individuals to remain at a healthy weight. Studies indicate that those who are prediabetic who lowered body weight by 5 to 7 percent lowered the chance of developing diabetes by 58 percent. It is also recommended that these individuals see a doctor regularly, at least every 3 to 6 months. Even if there are no issues, a doctor can give the patient positive feedback.Learn more about Nutrition & Diets
