GMOs, or genetically modified organisms, are safe to eat. Genetically modified organisms are food items in which beneficial traits have either been added or have been enhanced through genetic engineering.
There have been hundreds of studies on GMOs, and none suggest that genetically modified food is harmful for the health of humans. Most of the gene changes done in GMOs make the crops resistant to diseases and pests. Other changes are introduced into crops to increase their overall yields. According to experts, 60 to 70 percent of processed food products found in the United States have genetically modified ingredients in them.
