Walmart sells many gluten free foods including crackers, cookies, cereal and a variety of baking mixes, as of 2015. It also carries many foods that do not naturally contain gluten, such as rice and corn-based crackers and chips. Its selection includes brand name foods, as well as Walmart's generic versions.
Walmart's gluten free section has grown to include many popular products from brands such as Bisquick, Barilla, Chex and Betty Crocker. Walmart's store brand, Great Value, also has many gluten free products, usually at a fraction of the cost of the brand name versions. Virtually any food sold at Walmart that normally contains gluten also has a gluten free version, as of March 2015. Gluten free products are only sold in Walmart Supercenters, which have expanded grocery departments, and not in regular store locations.
Not only are popular staple foods such as pasta, baking mix and bread available gluten free, many rarer snacks are too, such as chocolate-covered pretzels, macaroni and cheese, and pizza crusts. Other foods available in their gluten free versions include instant oatmeal, chicken noodle soup, granola bars, cereal and granola. Products that are specially formulated to be gluten free, however, are often more expensive than the original product.
