Punjabi women are traditionally considered extremely beautiful. Although beauty standards are different from one country to another, foreign visitors to the region have acknowledged the attractiveness of the women there.
The history and legends of Punjab include many women whose beauty has affected events or people around them. One woman, Anarkali, was even able to influence a prince to rebel against his father. Maharani Jind Kaur, also known as Jindan Kaur, in addition to being famous for her looks was known for her cleverness and strong personality and defended her son's throne against the British when he was too young to do so himself.
