A medium banana, which contains 14.4 grams of sugar, contains almost double the amount of sugar a 1/2 cup of blueberries. Apples are even higher in sugar at 18.9 grams of sugar per medium apple. For better options, raspberries have just 2.7 grams of sugar per 1/2-cup serving, and strawberries contain 3.5 grams.
Fruit juices should usually be avoided on a low-sugar diet. Dried fruits also often contain large amounts of sugar.
