Any type of fruit is healthy for diabetics, according to the American Diabetes Association. However, diabetics must count their fruits as carbohydrates in their daily meal plans so as not to exceed recommended allowances or spike their blood sugar.
The best fruit choices for diabetics include fresh or frozen fruits that haven't had any sugar added to them. Canned fruit is also a good choice if it is packed in water, fruit juice or light syrup, states the American Diabetes Association. Dried fruit is also a good option, but serving sizes must be taken into account when eating dried fruit because it is easy to eat more than one serving of the dried snack.
