In addition, it helps regulate blood glucose levels, as well as removing toxins such as lead and mercury. Along with citrus fruits and apples, a variety of other foods contain pectin benefits. Berries that have higher levels of pectin include strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and dewberries. Bananas are also an excellent source, as long as they aren't too ripe or soft, and plums provide pectin benefits as well.
Pectin is available in a variety of food sources, and it must be modified in order to be digestible, explains WebMD. An altered form of pectin, known as modified citrus pectin, or MCP, can be used for optimal pectin benefits. MCP is sold in powder or capsule form by businesses that carry other food supplements.
