Foods that are high in cholesterol are egg yolks and organ meats. Diabetics also need to limit their intake of sodium, which should be no more than 2,300 milligrams per day, according to Mayo Clinic.
Other foods, which are considered the worst choices for diabetics, are white flour, white rice, fruit drinks, canned fruits that contain sugary syrup, whole milk and fatty meats, notes WebMD. Based on a study, eating a lot of rice can place people at a higher risk for Type 2 diabetes. White rice can also cause an increase in blood glucose levels.
Although melons and bananas are healthy fruits, diabetics should avoid eating them because their sugar contents are high. Some other foods that are not recommended for diabetics are blended coffees, Chinese food, refined cereal, trail mixes and energy bars.
For diabetics, it is important to avoid foods that are high in fats and calories so that blood glucose levels stay within the normal range. If blood glucose levels become too high, it can lead to other health problems, such as heart damage.
