Those who have excessive sugar intake, such as diabetics, are more likely to develop an infection as they tend to secrete sugar through skin, sweat and other bodily fluids.
There is little evidence that eliminating flour and sugar have any real effect on curing candida; however, probiotics may keep it from developing, notes Everyday Health. Probiotics are living microorganisms, also known as good bacteria, that aid in digestion and may keep yeast from growing and spreading.
