Fat-free dairy products, eggs, fish and spinach are some of the major foods that are allowed on the Dukan diet plan. The Dukan diet was designed by Dr. Pierre Dukan. During his research, he identified 100 foods that are rich in proteins and low in fats and carbohydrates.
The Dukan diet plan is divided into four phases. The initial phase is called the attack phase. According to Dr. Pierre Dukan, dieters can lose up to 7 pounds in 2 to 7 days if they follow all the instructions. During this phase, dieters are allowed to eat 68 protein rich foods including fish, shellfish, poultry and lean cuts of beef.
Dieters can also include plant-based proteins such as tofu and tempeh in their meals.
The cruise phase is the second phase of the Dukan diet plan. It lasts until the target weight is achieved. Protein-rich foods are allowed in this phase with the addition of 28 specific vegetables. However, dieters should avoid all fatty or starchy vegetables such as avocados.
The consolidation phase is designed to prevent future massive weight gains. During this phase, cheese, fruits and other starchy foods are reintroduced in the diet plan. During the stabilization phase, dieters are allowed to eat whatever they want without gaining weight as long as they follow certain rules outlined in the plan.
