It is recommended to do 30 minutes of aerobic exercise five days a week.
Strength training should be included at least two days a week. Not only does this type of exercise lower blood glucose levels, but it also helps build strong bones and muscles. Muscles allow the body to burn more calories, even at rest. Examples of strength training exercises include lifting weights, using weight machines, using resistance bands, carrying hand weights while walking or during aerobic workouts or using items around the house to lift. Water bottles and canned goods make excellent weight alternatives. The body's own weight can be used in strength training as well.
