To remove contact lenses, use the index finger of your nondominant hand to lift your upper eyelid, pull down your lower eyelid using the middle finger of your dominant hand, and use your thumb and index finger to squeeze the lens and pull it out. Don't use unnecessary force.
Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before removing your contact lenses. Dry eyes can cause contact lenses to stick more closely to the eye, so add rewetting drops to the eye to make contact lens removal easier. New contact lens wearers should remove lenses in front of a well-lit mirror and avoid rushing.
