The diet is also known as the T.W.A. Stewardess Diet or simply the cabbage diet. While on the Dolly Parton cabbage soup diet, participants can eat as much cabbage soup as they want every day. Although participants can consume as much cabbage soup as they want, it is required that they eat at least two bowls each day. People that undertake the diet typically cut their caloric intake by at least 50 percent, meaning that they consume approximately 800 to 1,000 calories.
On the first day of the diet, fruit can be consumed in addition to the cabbage soup. The only fruit that is excluded on this day is bananas. On the second day, other vegetables can be consumed in addition to the cabbage soup. On this day, one baked potato with butter can also be added. Soup, fruits and vegetables are eaten on the third day of the diet, while soup, six to eight bananas and an unlimited amount of skim milk are eaten on the fourth day.
On the fifth day, soup, six tomatoes and 15 to 20 ounces of beef, chicken or fish are consumed. Drinking at least six glasses of water is also recommended on this day. Soup, beef and vegetables are included in the diet on the sixth day, while soup, brown rice, vegetables and fruit juice make up the meal on the seventh day.
