Breast implants sometimes have to be removed because of the patient's age, rupture or suspicion of leaking, reports Cassileth Plastic Surgery. Although women who undergo this procedure are often concerned that their breasts may look unattractive or deflated after implant removal, the internal breast lift addresses these concerns. In the procedure, the skin of the lower breast is separated from the breast tissue, allowing the breast to be lifted without excessive cutting of the skin, which often leaves scar tissue. According to the amount of lift needed, tissue from the lower breast is tucked under central breast tissue to create a natural augmentation. This is just one of the methods that may be used to address concerns of sagging.

When selecting a surgeon for implant removal, the patient should make sure that the doctor is experienced at such surgeries for best cosmetic results, warns the National Center for Health Research. The surgeon should also be board certified and willing to show pictures of previous surgeries in which implants were removed. Ideally, the surgeon should also allow the potential patient to talk to former patients.
