Delta Dental's website includes a search tool that allows users to find participating Delta Dental dentists in their areas. To use the tool, users enter their coverage types and locations. Users can also search for a dentist by name, gender, specialty, secondary language and office hours.
Patients can find participating Delta Dental dentists throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Depending on the plan, most Delta Dental patients who need dental care while traveling can visit any participating provider and enjoy the same dental benefits they receive at their usual provider. Some plans also provide coverage for dental care performed outside of the United States. Dental specialists, including pediatric dentists, orthodontists and oral surgeons, also participate in the Delta Dental network. Patients with certain Delta Dental plans must receive prior authorization before visiting a specialist.
Although most Delta Dental plans allow patients to visit any dentist, visiting an in-network dentist provides extra cost savings. Patients do not need to fill out additional forms to use Delta Dental insurance at in-network providers, because the offices bill Delta Dental directly. Delta Dental also pays in-network dentists directly, so patients do not have to pay the balance and wait for a reimbursement check.
