In order to be included in the directory, a dentist must accept at least one of the company's dental plans, according to Delta Dental. Dentists can request a membership application and get more information by visiting Delta Dental's website.
As of March 2015, Delta Dental states that it has over 60 million patients in the United States and Puerto Rico, and over 307,000 dentists currently accept one or more of the company's plans. Delta Dental focuses strictly on dental benefits, and the company states that it has a 98 percent retention rate among enrollees.
Delta Dental offers four different plan types as of March 2015: Delta Dental PPO, Delta Dental Premier, DeltaCare USA and Delta Dental Patient Direct. However, a dentist only needs to accept one of these types of plans to be included in the membership directory.
Once a dentist has enrolled with Delta Dental, the practice's name and contact information is listed in the company's online and offline directories, as the company states. Online, patients can find approved dentists in their area by searching by name, plan type, zip code or specialty.
Providers can use specialized tools at Delta Dentist's website to get patient eligibility and benefits information, submit and track claims, and enroll in direct deposit.
