The most common types of skin rashes include atopic eczema, granuloma annulare, lichen planus and pityriasis rosea, according to WebMD. A rash causes unusual skin color and texture changes and can have several causes.
Atopic eczema can flare up due to skin irritants, stress and environmental causes. Symptoms include redness; itchiness; dry, crusty, scaly skin; small, oozy blisters and infection of broken skin. Lichen planus is characterized by flat, shiny, purplish bumps and is sometimes associated with hepatitis C infections and certain medications. Pitryiasis rosea appears first as a large, pink scaly area on the skin. Additional lesions follow. This may be accompanied by inflammation, itchiness and redness, according to WebMD.
