The most popular plastic surgery procedures are breast augmentation, nose reshaping and liposuction, as of 2014, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Other popular cosmetic surgery procedures include eyelid surgery and facelifts.
To perform breast augmentation, surgeons insert a saline-filled bag between the patient's breast tissue and chest muscles, or between the breast tissue and chest wall, explains WebMD. Surgeons use liposuction to remove pockets of fat, particularly around the waist. The procedure consists of vacuuming the fat from the targeted area through a small incision. After-effects include localized bruising, swelling and numbness. Eyelid surgery targets bagginess and loose skin around the eyelids, but does not remove wrinkles. After-effects may include swelling, bruising and blurry vision.
