What Is a Collagen Lift?

According to AMA Skincare, a collagen lift is a type of skin treatment that attempts to remove wrinkles, shrink pores and reduce sagging by preserving and restoring the collagen in the skin. The process involves lasers, LEDs, various facial creams and injections of collagen directly into the face.

As Metro U.K. explains, collagen-based treatments vary in effectiveness depending on their treatment procedures. Collagen molecules are too large to permeate the skin, so any cream applied to the face containing collagen is of limited effectiveness. The FDA has approved collagen injections for the face as a wrinkle filler, but over a period of three to four months, the collagen breaks down and is absorbed into the body, diminishing its effects.
