Charts and calculators using different methods to determine a healthy weight are available on HealthCheckSystems.com, CDC.org and NHBLI.NIH.gov. The methods presented include BMI calculations, waist circumference measurement and a chart based on frame size and height.
HealthCheckSystems.com provides a chart of healthy weights based on gender, height and frame size. The charts range from 4 foot 10 inches to 6 feet for women and 5 foot 2 inches to 6 foot 4 inches for men. A method for calculating frame size is also presented.
BMI is one method to determine healthy weight. BMI calculators are available from both the CDC and NIH. The NIH's BMI calculator is a downloadable iPhone app, and the CDC provides the formula used to calculate BMI. CDC.org also offers a BMI calculator for children and teens. Additionally, CDC.org provides information about the waist circumference method of determining a healthy weight.
