According to Dee Van Dyk of Canadian Living, the arms are one of the easiest parts of the body to tone. All it takes is a few months and exercise equipment including a stopwatch, 8- to 10-pound weights and a yoga mat.
- Motivate yourself
Motivation is a key component of any exercise routine. Look in the mirror and visualize the body you want, then make a commitment to work toward that goal.
- Do arm exercises
Push-ups are one of the most effective upper body workouts that work the triceps, biceps and core. If regular push-ups are too difficult to begin with, start out by doing push-ups against a kitchen counter. Once that becomes easy, switch to a lower coffee table, then on the floor on your knees, and finally progress to regular push ups. Use a yoga mat if the floor is uncomfortable. Biceps and triceps curls are effective for gaining toned arms. Doing push-ups and free-weight exercises three times a week helps tone the arms.
- Pay attention to your diet
Fat loss helps the body become more toned. Adding more nutritious foods while cutting out junk foods enables you to reduce the amount of fat calories you eat. Keeping a food diary and recording everything you eat helps you keep track of what and how much you are eating.
